In the spring 2023, I led my seminar students to Taiwan for company visits. Students learned about entrepreneurship and business management in this trip. These company visits reflected the teaching philosophy of "learning by doing"., 2023年度

I completed the simplified teaching portfolio (STP) in 2023. The STP was as follows: 1.Roles & responsibilities: As a faculty member of the Economics/Business group in the faculty, I offer a variety of English-medium business courses to the FILA students. Since I am both a professor of business and a practitioner (served as a chief financial officer in a publicly-listed firm before going for my Ph.D. degree), I aim to integrate both my academic and industrial experiences into my teaching. I, therefore, define my responsibility as follows: 1) delivering intellectual contents; 2) improving students’ English proficiency; 3) engaging active participation; and 4) preparing students with business practices. 2. Teaching philosophy: My teaching philosophy is to establish a student-centered learning environment to engage participation, induce creativity, and encourage diversity. To achieve this goal, I have utilized a variety of teaching methods, e.g., case study/discussion, debate, group project, simulation, etc., to implement the approach to active and experiential learning. 3. Pedagogy: In my business courses, I aim to engage students to directly participate in various class activities, of which the case-teaching method has been crucial in active and experiential learning. My idea of case-teaching can be essentially abbreviated into a “CDEF” approach, representing 1) case introduction; 2) discussion; 3) evaluation; and 4) feedback. I understand that all students learn in different ways. The variety of these learning activities tends to meet the needs of diverse students. 4. Assessment: As indicated in the previous section, student’s feedback is an important piece to evaluate effectiveness of case-teaching, which allows students to reflect what they have learned from each case. In addition, I will provide business practices and managerial implications to conclude each case. This case-teaching method has reflected to the high placement rate of FILA graduates. 5. Future goals: My future goals are two-fold: First, I will enrich my teaching with more intellectual, as well as practical, contents to meet the diverse needs of students. Second, although various teaching methods are already applied in my classroom, logistic setup in implementing teaching activities needs to be further improved to achieve perfection of active/experiential learning., 2023年度
